Homework

Homework is set for a number of reasons:

  • To reinforce work carried out in the classroom.
  • For children to practise skills and concepts learned at school.
  • For children to collect information to use at school
  • To involve parents in their child’s learning.
  • To help children establish their own work pattern and organisation.
  • To prepare children for Key Stage 3 and to be lifelong learners.

Homework expectation is the same across all classes, as follows:

Spellings – please practice these as often as possible. Each class have their weekly spelling test on different days, but new spellings will come home weekly.

Reading – as often as possible, every day if you can! They can read to you, themselves, a sibling, a friend. As long as they are reading often!

Xtables – all children have a log in to TT Rock stars. Everyone I have spoken to has told me how much they enjoy beating their own score. This is a really good way to practice their tables regularly.

Kirfs – Key Instant Recall Facts – The really important facts that will help in all our maths learning.  Try to practise these skills at home regularly.
See the links below for details.

One other piece – Up to 30 minutes work, this might be topic based, English or Maths. Some classes may send a longer piece one week and nothing the next or they may send home a grid to choose from for the whole term.
